We spoke to Hemant Sapra, president, Safety Appliances Manufacturers Association (SAMA) to understand SAMA’s focus areas in the year 2020, key safety products and solutions that are going to be in focus this year, new innovations expected in PPE products, new activities planned by SAMA to promote safety awareness this year and his advice and valuable feedback for OSH India Expo.

Please tell us about SAMA’s focus areas in the year 2020.

  • Open more regional chapters
  • Tie-up with laboratories for testing products in India
  • Upgrade and introduction of new standards working along with BIS

Which products and safety solutions are going to be in focus this year?

  • Environmentally friendly products such as Masks, Electrical safety products, Microfibre shoes, Bio-degradable gloves and clothes

What new innovations can we expect in PPE?

  • Connected PPE like Microchips, integrated communication within the PPE, Apps and Software.

Any new activities that are planned this year by SAMA to promote safety awareness?
